When we were in Sevilla, we hung out near the Giralda (cathedral) a lot. Partly because of the lovely architecture, but mainly because of the amazing (and cheap) tapas restaurant on the block behind it. One afternoon, we managed to motivate ourselves to climb the bell tower, and were rewarded with this view.

Tiled Corner
This tiled corner was in a public garden in Sevilla. The lighting and reflections makes this shot look like an optical illusion. The corner is advancing, with the point of it near the top center of the image, but sometimes when I look at it, the corner seems to be receding.
Iris After the Rain
Magnolias with Buds
Wall with Arrow
In Salema, Portugal, we stayed in a villa at the top of a hill. This building was at the bottom of that hill, and we walked past it a number of times.
Striped Landscape
The view from the train platform in Toledo was unusually picturesque.
Wooden Star
A detail of one of the doors of the Synagogue of Santa Maria de la Blanca, in Toledo, Spain. (A rather curious name for a synagogue…) The interior was also beautiful, with arches and bas relief detail in white stucco. Unfortunately, the attendants were very serious about enforcing the photography restriction.
Beach Rose with Fly
I thought it was time to bring back a little bit of color, after the nearly monochromatic paving stones. This was taken on a walking path above the beach in Rockport, MA, on a hazy spring day
