Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been working on the print version of the travelogue from our honeymoon in Spain and Portugal. This project has dragged on, and I’m pleased to have it nearly done. One benefit of procrastinating on this has been that my color correction skills in Photoshop have improved quite a bit. I’m going back through the photos to touch up some of them, and figured I’d share a few here. These paving stones were on the Passeig de Gracia, in Barcelona.
Floreta: One Euro
From one of the many market stalls on Las Ramblas in Barcelona. The flowers are dried and dyed, and packaged in paper cones. We saw these over an over in Barcelona, but nowhere else in Spain.
Joy Pulley Wheels
My one successful roommate experience (aside from moving in with Dan, of course) was the year I lived with my friend Donna. We were both newly out of college, employed but broke, and always looking for cheap ways to have fun. Our friendship was originally forged by a series of road trips back home from school, and we kept up that tradition while we were roommates. This shot is from one of those days, when we got in the car with a vague destination in New Hampshire (or maybe Eastern Vermont) and just stopped when the fancy struck us. One…
Salmon and Yellow: Abstract
This is another shot of the odd salmon flower from the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden. I like the absraction of this shot, with the two mottled yellow flowers in the background.
International Lily Pads
These lily pads are from the garden of the Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal. This shot is more about shapes, composition and colors than some of the other lily pad shots I have posted.
B is for Bottles
The second installment for the A-B-C-Along.
Leaves and Scrollwork
From the gardens at the Harkness Mansion. I’ve been doing some more scanning, now that I’m getting near the end of the slides in my archive. Negatives are easier to scan, but a lot harder to edit and select when I don’t have matching contact sheets.
Picnic Shop
Also from Tavira, in the Algarve region of Portugal
Red Citroen, Sunny Day
Another one from Portugal, this time in Tavira, in the Algarve region. See that blue sky? It didn’t last once we got to Salema, which was the actual beach town. I have a knack for bringing rain to beach towns.
Bright Laundry
So far, my blog posts have primarily been individual shots from my archives that were not specifically part of a bigger project. This photo is from my trip to Spain and Portugal; this is in the Bairro Alto district of Lisbon. In addition to trying to put some order to my masses of negatives and slides, I’ve also been working on a hard copy version of the travelogue from this trip.
