From the gardens at the Harkness Mansion. I’ve been doing some more scanning, now that I’m getting near the end of the slides in my archive. Negatives are easier to scan, but a lot harder to edit and select when I don’t have matching contact sheets.

Cropped Dogwood 2
Another dogwood shot. There will be more to come…
Pool and Statue in Sarah Duke Gardens
When my friends Jen and Scott were living in North Carolina, Donna and I went down for a visit and we all spent a lovely spring day in the Sarah Duke Gardens. I didn’t get too many good shots that day, but I remember how lovely the garden was.
Iron Gate and Ivy
Another one from the gardens at Harkness. I was a bit surprised to realize this is the first photo I’ve posted that features ironwork… it’s one of my recurring themes.
Harkness Mansion
This is the mansion at Harkness State Park. I recently learned that the Harkness family was tied to the Standard Oil Company, which explains the fortune, I guess. I’d like to do a some kind of fiber/mixed media piece based on this image one of these days.
Pair of Star Magnolias
I surely do love the magnolias. They’re starting to bloom again around here, but this shot was taken at the Mendocino Botanical Garden.
Another Pink Rose
It’s getting hard to come up with original titles for the rose pictures! This was also taken in the Berkeley Rose Garden.
Lily Pads – Desaturated
The same image, desaturated with the Adobe Raw tools. This is the very first direct-to-digital image that I played with, and I was stunned by how much creative latitude the raw format gives you. It makes me not miss my darkroom quite as much any more.
Lily Pads – Full Color
Lily pads in the pond at the UC Botanical Garden.
Stone Urn with Yellow Flowers
Another shot from the gardens at Harkness State Park. There will be still more to come, especially once I get to scanning my negatives.
