Gooseneck Barnacles
We went tidepooling at More Mesa this afternoon. It was so nice to get outside, and be by the water. These barnacles were clinging to the side of a huge blob of tar (like, the size of a moving truck) that had bubbled up out of the beach. I think they look like turtle flippers; Dan thinks dinosaur teeth.
Yellow, White, Blue
New Orleans, Louisiana As I was taking this shot, a fellow walking by (a local, as far as I could tell) got a bit past us on the sidewalk, then stopped and turned back to us. “What on earth is she taking a photo of?” he said to Dan, not unpleasantly. “The texture of the paint,” I replied. “Well, bless your heart!” he said, as he continued on down the sidewalk.

Mint Julep
New Orleans, Louisiana Sadly, we had Hurricanes instead of Mint Juleps when we went to Pat O’Briens. They may be popular, but they are vile – more or less alcoholic cherry Kool-Aid.
