We spent an afternoon at the Butterfly Place, in Westford, MA. This was fun for everyone – kids and grownups alike. It’s an enclosed conservatory with hundreds of butterflies that have the run of the place. You are not allowed to touch them, but often they land on you. It was great to be able to get so close to so many butterflies. Now, I want to go to the special exhibit that’s on at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers!

CP Cover – Boston
My declaration of being back from vacation was a bit premature – I spent most of this week with a killer cold. Mmmm… summer cold, during the hottest days of the year so far. Lots of fun! Finally catching up a bit today – I’ve imported all of my vacation photos, so I’ll have fresh blog fodder for a little while. This one was taken in Boston, near the Aquarium, I think.
O is for Oranges
We’re back from our vacation in Massachusetts! It was a good mix of hanging out with my best pals and sightseeing, with maybe a bit less photography than I was hoping for. Oh, well – it’s rare enough that I let myself relax, so I’m not disappointed!

I was giving Melissa a little tutorial on Adobe Bridge and Camera RAW workflow tonight, and I was inspired to try some simple manipulations for today’s post. This is desaturated somewhat in the RAW converter, then grain added in Photoshop (SO much easier than the old days of cross processing…).

Checkerspot
I’ve been seeing a lot of butterfly photos on the blogs lately, thought I’d join the trend. This is a Chalcedon Checkerspot butterfly, from the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
